Flamengo 2 - 1 Sport





Great game and great atmosphere.
Yesterday, we went to the 'Maracaná' stadium to watch the Flamengo (local club from Rio) playing against Sport (from Pernambuco - north east Brazil).

We were sitting on the same side of the Flamengo supporters. It was party during all the game. Drums, flags, singing, music, eating, drinking,...,great fun :)
We were supporting Flamengo, of course. Flamengo is on the 4th place in the Brazilian league and have the biggest number of supporters in the world - 33 million. They started loosing but at the end they scored 2 goals.

Pão de Açucar...

On Thursday, we've been in Sugar Loaf - Pão de Açucar. We have hiked the first mountain and went with the cable car for the second part. The views from there are amazing. Normally, the best time to go there is for the sunset. We were there at that time, but unfortunately, we had a cloudy day. But, we still could see a little bit of the sunset. We have stayed untill it got dark and the lights in the city were turned on. We went with some of the travellers from the hostel. It has been a great day.

Sightseeing in Rio

Here we are again. These two last days have been great. We started feeling the greating atmosphere of Rio.

Last tuesday we spent the day at the Ipanema beach and in the evening we went out in Lapa. There´s great bars with live music there and great Caipirinhas :).
Yesterday, it was until now the most productive day. We went up to "Corcovado" - Christ Redeemer. It was an amazing experience. It´s beautiful, how the city is built and setup. It is with no doubt a unique city - see the photos below.



After the sightseeing during the day we came back to the Hostel and had a great evening with all the travellers that are staying here. We all got take away Japanese food and eat it together with some beers and nice conversations at the terrace. People are really friendly. Great evening.

Some Photo´s

We spent our first day in Rio de Janeiro mostly walking..... We woke up around 8am, got some nice breakfast here at the Hostel and left for some sightseeing..... First we walked by Ipanema beach, than Copacabana beach... in direction of the centre, this is really a long walk, and after lunch we decided that for the last part we would take the Metro. We arrived in the centre, were there was a big streetmarket, Rua da Alfandega.... and that is where we both bought our first :) pair of Havaianas. We didn't take too many pictures today as the weather was very cloudy, but quit warm.......

We arrived to the beautiful Rio de Janeiro.
After a flight of almost 10 hours we are here.

The flight went fine. There was a lot of entertainment, such as movies, games, music,...
The food was also good. Nothing to complain untill now :)

The arrival to Rio was great. We have got a nice taxi driver that gave us a lot of tips.
It is raining, but does not matter :)
Tomorrow, there will be sun.

We just arrived to the hostel. It is nice and cosy.
Now, we are going for some dinner and after that resting.

Packing

Only 2 more days to go. We have put all the stuff together, ready to be packed :)
