Puerto Madryn - Whales Tour

The highlight in Puerto Madryn is the Whales watching. We've done it and it was great.

We were picked up early in the morning and travelled in direction to Peninsula Valdes. The tour guide was very nice and made the tour more interesting. He had lot of material that he used to explain about all the flora and fauna in the region.

The first stop was in the information center where there was an exposition about the whales. We stayed there for a short time and continued our journey to Puerto Piramides. There, we took a boat to the open sea where we could see the whales.

It was very windy and bumpy on the boat. That made it more exciting :)

Once we arrive to the open sea, we could stand in the front of the boat (proa). Only 8 persons were allowed to stay there. So, here we go. Best place to watch the whales and take nice photos.

The best views were of the whales splashing on the water, as you can see in some of the photos.

We where aprox. 1,5 hours in open sea and return then to the village where we ate the lunch we brought.

After lunch, we have continued the tour to the point where we could watch elephants seals and sea lions. It was also nice, even though they were a bit far and they are quite static. We could even assist to a live making out show of the elephants seals :)

We spent more than one hour here, walking along the dunes.

Our last stop was to view the Magallanes Penguins, that we already have seen the day before. However, it was still interesting and these ones where more close to the beach.

When we returned to Puerto Madryn, our tour guide was explaining more about the region. We also had the privilege to try out the "Mate", which is a local drink similar to tea, but stronger and bitter. They use this drink, mainly to socialize. Good experience.
